BWI’s Sales Manager Joined French Delegation in Washington DC

We are pleased to announce that Benoît Miltin, BWI’s sales manager, had the honor of representing our company as part of the French delegation at an energy-focused conference in the United States. This gathering took place in the capital city during the first week of October 2024. Organized by MEDEF International in collaboration with the Renewable Energy Association (SER), it emphasized the crucial need to expand renewable energy production and ensure equitable access to these resources.

As the world confronts the pervasive signs of climate change, the urgency for a seamless and accelerated transition to clean energy sources is becoming more critical. In this context, MEDEF International partnered with Syndicate of Renewable Energies (SER), in order to organize the French Energy Mission in Washington DC. This singificant international gathering allowed to create a platform for an open exchange of ideas, discussion of recent developments, equally as ongoing projects. The hospitable welcome of the leading financial institutions, namely The World Bank Group and Inter-American Development Bank significantly contributed to this fruitful exchange of ideas.

French Delegation in Washington DC

The energy-focused gathering highlighted the critical importance of renewable energy access, bolstered by changes such as new procurement reforms from international financial institutions designed to align with decarbonization initiatives. The event equally fostered an open exchange of information among key stakeholders who have been actively working on deployment of renewable energy in numerous developing countries. Notably, the Mission 300 project, led by the World Bank Group in partnership with the African Development Bank. This initiative aims to provide electricity access to 300 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030 and has garnered substantial support.

At BWI, we are committed to contributing to the renewable energy transition, making our “drop in the ocean” through our hydrological forecasting services to optimize electricity production. Benoît had the opportunity to pitch BWI’s expertise to various industry leaders, emphasizing our alignment with hydropower generation. A tangible example of our goals showcased at the event was our HydroNepal case study, which promotes the fulfillment of Nepal’s hydroelectric potential.

It was an honor to share expertise openly, and join the French delegation in Washington DC to create synergies within the delegation and begin early-stage discussions about cross-national collaborations.

The insights gained at the gathering in Washington DC will serve as invaluable guidelines for any future projects, accelerating our path toward a sustainable energy future in both developed and developing nations.
