Release v2.13: Platform improvements, new hydrological modelling capabilities

Release v2.13 introduces major under-the-hood improvements to BWI’s platform, alongside the deployment of a new multi-reach hydrological model. This release also brings clearer timezone handling, imperial units support, and multiple reliability and UX improvements.

Our v2.13 update was released on 11 February, following several months of intensive development focused on strengthening the core of the BWI platform and introducing new modelling capabilities.

Improvements to data storage and pipeline reliability

A large part of this release concerns internal improvements. Over recent months, we have significantly enhanced our spatio-temporal storage management and improved the reliability of the data pipeline. These changes make the platform more stable and allow faster iterations on both data processing and modelling workflows.

Introduction of a Multi-Reach hydrological model (MRM)

v2.13 also introduces our first hydrological model based on a Multi-Reach Model (MRM) approach.

This model is the result of extensive methodological prototyping, benchmarking, testing of variations and modelling approaches. It represents a new step in how river dynamics are modelled within the platform.

Clear timezone information in charts and data downloads

For better clarity and usability, timezones are now explicitly displayed:

  • on charts
  • and in the data download dialog

All dates and times are expressed in the station’s local timezone.

Imperial units now available

Charts now also support imperial units, in addition to metric units, making data easier to interpret for users working in regions where imperial units are commonly used.

Additional fixes and refinements

As part of this release, v2.13 includes a number of bug fixes, reliability upgrades, and small user experience improvements.
