We’re pleased to welcome Kartik Gera, Lead Data Engineer at BWI. With a strong background in data science and cloud engineering, Kartik builds the scalable data platforms that keep BWI’s forecasts reliable and accessible for our product and our clients.
Based in Paris, Kartik brings a rich international background – originally from India, he spent several years in Melbourne, Australia, where he earned a Master’s degree in Data Science from Monash University, before moving to Paris nearly four years ago. He has around eight years of professional experience building scalable data platforms and cloud solutions across a range of industries.
At BWI, Kartik works as a Lead Data Engineer. His role focuses on building scalable data platforms that ensure the reliability and accessibility of data for BWI’s product and its customers – the foundation on which dependable hydrological forecasts are built.
Prior to joining BWI, Kartik held data engineering, data science and DevOps roles across several companies and technologies, from data science work supporting public services in Australia to data engineering in the tech industry.
Kartik chose to join BWI for its combination of data, engineering and real-world impact, and he was drawn to the environmental dimension of the work, solving concrete water-related challenges. What he enjoys most is that everyone at BWI is genuinely invested in solving real-world problems, taking ownership and initiative to make an impact – all within a multicultural, English-speaking team.
