BWI signs MoU and VAR agreement with ChhimiD Consulting in Bhutan

On January 29, 2026, Blue Water Intelligence (BWI) formalized a strategic partnership in Bhutan through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) agreement with ChhimiD Consulting in Thimphu, Bhutan.

This partnership marks an important step in strengthening BWI’s presence in the Himalayan region and advancing collaboration on water intelligence and hydrological forecasting in Bhutan.

A partner with strong local expertise

Founded in 2015 and based in Thimphu, Bhutan, ChhimiD Consulting is a consulting firm specialized in hydrology, water resources, energy, GIS and environmental studies

The firm works across a wide range of projects, including:

  • hydrological and hydraulic modelling
  • environmental impact assessments
  • water resource management and hydropower-related studies

Its experience spans collaborations with national institutions and international organisations such as the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and UNDP.

With this positioning, ChhimiD Consulting brings strong local knowledge of Bhutan’s hydrological systems, institutional landscape and environmental challenges.

Through this MoU and VAR agreement, BWI and ChhimiD Consulting aim to combine complementary strengths:

  • BWI’s capabilities in hydrological forecasting, satellite-based monitoring and modelling
  • ChhimiD Consulting’s expertise in field studies, local data and project implementation

This collaboration is designed to support the deployment of advanced forecasting tools and data-driven approaches in Bhutan, contributing to improved understanding and management of water resources.

Supporting resilience in mountainous regions

Bhutan, like many Himalayan countries, faces increasing challenges linked to hydrological variability, extreme events and water resource management. In such environments, combining local expertise with scalable data and modelling tools is key to strengthening resilience.

By working together, BWI and ChhimiD Consulting aim to support stakeholders in addressing these challenges through more informed and adaptive decision-making.
