We’re pleased to welcome Hanbing Peng, Precise Orbit Determination Specialist at BWI. With a strong background in geoscience and satellite navigation, Hanbing contributes to the REVALTO satellite mission by ensuring highly accurate orbit determination – a key element for reliable Earth observation data.
We’re delighted to welcome Hanbing Peng to BWI as a Precise Orbit Determination Engineer. Originally from China and currently based in Toulouse, Hanbing brings over 10 years of experience in GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and space geodesy. He holds a PhD in Space Geodesy from Technische Universität Berlin, where he specialized in precise orbit determination using advanced satellite techniques.
Hanbing shares his journey, motivations and insights into his role at BWI.
Before joining BWI, Hanbing built strong expertise in orbit determination, satellite navigation and geodetic engineering across both research and operational environments. He worked on GNSS-based positioning, satellite orbit modeling and estimation methods, contributing to the development and improvement of processing systems for navigation and Earth observation missions.
At BWI, Hanbing works as a Precise Orbit Determination Engineer on the REVALTO project, our radar altimetry satellite mission dedicated to high-revisit hydrolog. His role focuses on developing and applying orbital determination methods and algorithms, including data analysis, orbit modeling and validation. By providing highly accurate satellite orbits, he plays a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the observations used for hydrological applications.
Hanbing shares that what he enjoys most at BWI is working in a collaborative and international environment, alongside experts from different fields, tackling real-world challenges related to water and climate. He is particularly motivated by the opportunity to connect his expertise in space geodesy with applications that have a direct impact on society.
We’re proud to have Hanbing on board and look forward to his contributions to the REVALTO mission.
Welcome, Hanbing!
