BWI Platform – New Release V2.10.0: Stronger Foundations for What’s Next

Version 2.10.0

We’re excited to announce the release of BWI platform V2.10.0 — a pivotal update marking an important step forward in the evolution of our hydrological forecasting system.

Three months after version 2.9.0, this new release focuses on performance, stability, and scalability rather than major new features. The result? A faster, smoother, and more reliable experience for all our users.

Better performance, wider coverage

With V2.10.0, forecast generation and data access are faster and more responsive than ever:

  • Flow Duration Curve (FDC) can now be generated even faster anywhere in France, helping users gain deeper insights into river flow behavior.
  • Historical data is now instantly available — you can download up to 60 days of river flow history as soon as virtual stations provide data, even in extended regions like Senegal.
  • Model training has been optimized for large-scale catchments, significantly speeding up system performance.

These enhancements make forecasting workflows more fluid, and enable our users to access actionable water data without waiting times or pre-computation steps.

New architecture for faster, smarter insights

This version also marks the ongoing transition to our new SpatioTemporal Storage (STS) architecture. STS enables faster data access, improved stability, and better scalability for future developments.

We’ve also integrated new datasets, such as additional river characteristics and evapotranspiration, to refine the way our models understand and represent hydrological environments — delivering more accurate, realistic, and context-aware forecasts.

What’s next — V2.11.0 coming soon

While V2.10.0 focuses on performance and reliability, it sets the stage for the exciting features coming next.

Set to launch on 29 October 2025, version 2.11.0 will expand the platform’s reach and improve its global performance. Users can look forward to broader international coverage, including Nepal and Bangladesh.

This release is the result of a true collective effort across BWI’s engineering and science teams — congratulations to everyone involved!

We’re proud of how far the platform has come, and even more excited for what’s ahead as we continue building the most efficient, data-driven hydrological forecasting system for a changing world. 💧
