The BWI Paris and Toulouse teams recently experienced a refreshing change of pace during a two-day seminar aimed at strengthening team cohesion. Held in Paris from June 18th to 19th, 2024, the event focused on fostering communication, trust, and cooperation among team members through a variety of engaging exercises.
The seminar began on Thursday with sessions dedicated to understanding both individual and collective motivations. We celebrated the unique strengths and qualities of our colleagues, which often go unnoticed but are crucial for effective collaboration. A walk during the lunch break allowed team members from different departments to interact and gain a deeper cross-functional understanding. The day concluded with dynamic brainstorming sessions where we developed actionable strategies for achieving excellence.
Building on the insights from the first day, Friday’s activities further enhanced cooperation between individual members equally as between Paris and Toulouse offices. We continued worthwhile discussions and participated in exercises aimed at establishing and maintaining trust within the team. The day concluded with a sharing session where we exchanged key takeaways and formulated actionable plans to address our weaknesses and efficiently leverage our assets.
Throughout various sessions, working towards an impactful mission and being challenged daily emerged as recurring themes. These commonalities surfaced during many discussions, underscoring their importance to our growth as individuals and as a team.
The two-day seminar marked our team’s first collective exposure to such exercises, representing a significant advancement in building team spirit and cohesion. It provided us with essential tools to collaborate more effectively, enhancing our ability to deliver innovative hydrological services while addressing the water stress induced by climate change, which lies at the core of BWI’s mission.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Monique Cumin from Seedlings, our Leadership Coach and Consultant, who expertly facilitated the sessions. Her guidance and insights were invaluable in addressing our challenges, highlighting our strengths, and supporting us in our mission to make a positive difference in society.
