The Water Resources Management Conference in Le Tholonet, themed “Innovation for Water: From Critical Issues to Practical Solutions,” is set to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in water management today. Organised by Ea éco-entreprises, the event will bring together experts, solution providers, and stakeholders. The aim is to explore innovative approaches to managing and preserving our irreplaceable resource: water. BWI is delighted to announce that Olivier Chazal, BWI’s Head of Programmes, will introduce BWI at the afternoon workshop.
15-10-2024 – Société du Canal de Provence, Le Tholonet
The conference will highlight the importance of responsible and sustainable water resource management. In addition, it will explore its intersection with recent technological advancements, such as AI and multi-sensor data. The goal is to provide a platform to present and synthesize pathways for effective management and preservation of water resources.
During the afternoon workshop, various players in the water management sector will illustrate their water management solutions. Moreover, they will learn from each other’s successes, and provide open feedback. Olivier’s intervention, titled “Digitizing River Basins: A Forecasting Solution for Water Management,” will start at 15:00. BWI is grateful to have Olivier join other solution providers to present real-world use cases of AI and data integration in water management.
The event will equally comprise two thematic roundtables:
Olivier Chazal is an experienced professional with a background in geography and energy geopolitics. He holds a dual Master’s from Pantheon Sorbonne and Ecole Normale Supérieure. With 15 years at the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), he now leads BWI’s programs, managing development, funding, and institutional relationships. Olivier advocates for renewable energy and climate change adaptation worldwide, making him an ideal candidate to present our hydrological services.
BWI’s water manangement solution is digitisation of river basins, benefiting stakeholders like basin authorities and run-of-river hydropower operators. Our virtual stations provide crucial river discharge monitoring and forecasts up to ten days, as well as water level monitoring services. This is achieved by gathering data from satellites, weather stations, and sensors, then applying advanced hydraulic models and machine learning to produce accurate, climate change adapted predictions.
Thank you to Simon Olivier, Head of Innovation at Aqua-valley, for approaching BWI to take part during this spirit-opening conference. We equally extend our gratitude to the organisers and the conference partners for inviting us to this significant event. BWI is enthusiastic about participating and sharing our insights on sustainable water resource management. We look forward to contributing to meaningful discussions and forging valuable partnerships at the Water Resources Management Conference in Le Tholonet.
